When attending the surgery during the Covid 19 epidemic please wear a face covering.
Currently the surgery runs the following clinics:
Family planning: All forms of family planning is offered by consultation during normal surgery hours. Emergency contraception is available without consultation, although it is preferred that you speak to a doctor.
Cervical smears: It is recommended that women between the ages of 25 and 50 have a cervical smear at three yearly intervals. Then every five years to the age of 65. To allow greater flexibility for our patients needs, cervical smear tests are performed during normal surgery hours rather than during a specific clinic. However, please inform the receptionist if you are making an appointment for a smear test as a longer consultation is needed.
Health promotion and information clinics are offered by appointment. These include:
Travel vaccinations: If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to contact the MASTA Travel Helpline before arranging an appointment with the practice nurse. This is available from MASTA Travellers Health line on 0906 550 1402 or by visiting http://www.masta-travel-health.com/ Please note that a small charge may be made for this service by Masta.
Influenza vaccination: Influenza is responsible for many deaths and much disability each year. We have an active programme of annual influenza vaccination and the doctors strongly recommend vaccination for those most at risk.
You may require influenza vaccination if you are over the age of 65 or have any of the following:
Please look for notices in the surgery from early September giving details of 'Flu Clinics'.

Please make an appointment to see the practice nurse as early as possible before your proposed travel. You will be required to produce a printout which will be provided by MASTA stating which vaccinations are necessary for the countries you are visiting.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travel Health Questionnaire
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
Our medical staff are not qualified, trained or indemnified to deal with dental problems. If you need any treatment then you should contact your usual dentist. During the current Covid-19 crisis, if you are unable to contact your usual dentist you should contact 111 online. For further information please see the link below.
We are always looking to improve our services and patient experience. If you have any feed back then please complete our GP Survey by following the link here.
All clinical appointments will be held at Pencester Surgery on Pencester Road from Monday 20th July 2020.
The phone lines at Pencester Health will still be manned indefinitely but with a reduced number of staff.
It has been proposed that we could be more efficient and effective based at one site rather than covering across two and there is a plan to accomplish this. The current timeline has not been agreed upon for this move.
If you need a Med3 certificate or sick note because you cannot work due to illness then please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your full name, date of birth, what your illness or condition is and the dates you need the sick note for.
